LROCP (Long Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency) VHF/HF Marine Radio Operator's Certificate Course

Every crew member should be licensed to operate a VHF Radio. VHF radios are used daily, sometimes from one part of the vessel to another, from Yacht to Tender, and in emergencies. Australian law requires anyone operating a VHF or HF radio of any size to have the VHF/HF Marine Radio Operator's Certificate of Proficiency (MROCP).

The VHF/HF Marine Radio Operator's Certificate of Proficiency Examination

This is a full day course from 9:30am-5pm and covers:

  • Radio Operation
  • Types of Marine Radios
  • Rules and Regulations governing radio use locally and in foreign ports.
  • Emergency Distress Calls
  • Ship to Ship Calls
  • Ship to Shore Calls

You will be provided with the required study materials and forms and then sit a one hour examination for your radio operator's licence.

Examination Duration

1 hour is allocated for the examination.

Examination Location

The examination is run from our Marina Office in Newport NSW Australia and the Superyacht Crew Academy Training Facility at 8 Kalinya Street, Newport. The facilities are a 45min drive North of Sydney’s CBD. To see a map of how to find us, CLICK HERE
